TEXTS: There is no one text which fits
the needs of this course; however, the following books will be used throughout
the course: Nursery Management - Administration
and Culture, by Harold Davidson, Roy Mecklenburg and Curtis Peterson (4th
Edition) and American Standard for Nursery Stock, by American
Association of Nurserymen (2005 Edition).
Other reference texts will be listed on a separate sheet.

Lectures will be in Shepardson 212 (M-W-F at

AND SCOPE OF COURSE:
This course is designed to cover
total aspects of field and container nursery stock production. Course includes site selection and
development, propagation, growing procedures, harvesting, marketing, shipping,
and labor and business management practices.
GRADING:
Lecture - Quizzes (3 announced) 10%
2 hour exams (15% each) 30%
Final Exam (over last 1/3 of course) 20%
Laboratory - Field Trip Reports 10%
Laboratory Reports (10%) & Special Group
Project (20%) 30%
(Special group project will include
presentation at end of
semester)
TOTAL 100%
1. All
laboratory reports should be written in proper English. Reports will be discounted for poor grammar
and sloppy work.
2. Reports
will be due on indicated dates. (Field
trip reports on first lab meeting after field trip). Late reports will be lowered one grade level
for being late.
3. Exam
questions can be from lecture, lab, text, assigned exercises, or assigned
references.
Grading Scale - 92-100 = A; 90-91 =
A-; 87-89 = B+; 82-86=B; 80-81 = B-;
77-79 = C+; 72-76 = C; 70-71
= C-; and 60's = D; below 60 = F
Attendance in class and lab will be
considered in borderline cases. If any
student has a learning disability, please inform instructor at the beginning of
the semester.
